Two Serie A heavyweights will go head-to-head this weekend, as Juventus will host Inter Milan at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday. It’s arguably the most anticipated game in the 25th matchday of the 2024-25 campaign.

Inter Milan are going toe-to-toe with league leaders Napoli (55 points), who will go up against Lazio on Saturday night. The Nerazzurri are the second seed with 54 points, and they can return to the top of the food chain with a win over Juventus plus a loss or draw for Napoli.

Meanwhile, Juventus are aiming to secure a Top 4 spot. The Bianconeri are fifth in the Italian top-flight table with 43 points, and beating Simone Inzaghi’s side could do them a lot of good.

Juventus are convinced with Kolo Muani

The Bianconeri are the biggest winners of the winter transfer window, as they loaned Randal Kolo Muani from PSG. The French striker has been a seamless fit in Thiago Motta’s tactics, so much so that Juventus are keen to keep him permanently beyond this season.

Kolo Muani already has five league goals in three Serie A appearances. After scoring the consolation goal in Juventus’ 2-1 loss against Napoli, the 26-year-old forward has registered back-to-back braces in the team’s 4-1 win against Empoli and 2-1 win over Como. As a result, Dusan Vlahovic has been relegated to the bench, and we won’t be surprised if he wants out of the team soon.

Signing Kolo Muani to a permanent deal this summer won’t be easy for Juventus, as PSG are keen to recoup as much of the €85 million they paid for the Frenchman 18 months ago. The Bianconeri will likely need to sell some players to finance the deal.

Meanwhile, in case you haven’t noticed, Thiago Motta has been playing Tim Weah as a full-back out of necessity, as Andrea Cambiaso has been on the sidelines due to an ankle problem. Juventus upgraded Cambiaso with the questionable tag, hoping to have him back as soon as possible.

 

Key Inter Milan strikers set to be fit

Inter Milan are back in the W column after securing a 2-1 result against Fiorentina earlier this week. However, the win came at a cost, as two of their strikers had to leave the match early due to knocks. Marcus Thuram was subbed off in the 27th minute due to an ankle injury he sustained after a rough challenge from a Fiorentina defender. The player who replaced him was Marko Arnautovic, who was eventually subbed off in the 77th minute by Mehdi Taremi.

Local reports claim that Thuram and Arnautovic didn’t finish the game due to precaution, so they’re expected to play against Juventus, with Inter Milan having a rare full week off. Thuram is one of the frontrunners for this season’s Capocannoniere award with 13 league goals, while Arnautovic only has one league goal this season.

Juventus and Inter Milan have already squared off earlier this season, sharing the spoils in a 4-4 draw at San Siro last October. Piotr Zielinski (brace), Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Denzel Dumfries scored for the Nerazzurri. Dusan Vlahovic, Tim Weah, and Kenan Yildiz scored for the Bianconeri. If these two sides share the spoils again, it’ll mark the first time they’ll draw both Serie A meetings in a season for the first time since 2001-02.

The Bianconeri are undefeated in 10 of their last 11 home league games against the Nerazzurri (W7, D3). The last time Inter Milan beat Juventus at the Allianz Stadium was a 1-0 result in April 2022, courtesy of Hakan Calhanoglu’s penalty.
