These Bundesliga Stars Absolutely Killed It in 2024-25

Bayern Munich are back on top of the world after winning the 2024-25 Bundesliga title, and they couldn’t do it without their stars and head coach, Vincent Kompany. Behind the Bavarians are former champions Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Borussia Dortmund to take the three Champions League spots. SC Freiburg and Mainz claim the Europa and Conference League berths, while RB Leipzig narrowly missed out.

With the 2024-25 campaign wrapped up, let’s give a huge shoutout to the stars who stood out in today’s SBOTOP edition of the Bundesliga XI of the season.

Robin Zentner, Mainz

Mainz have been a surprise package this season, mainly because of their defensive solidity with late bloomer goalkeeper Robin Zentner. The 30-year-old has kept nine clean sheets this season and is a top candidate to be Germany’s goalkeeper for their upcoming international breaks, potentially replacing Manuel Neuer.

With Zentner between the sticks, the 05ers boast the league’s joint-third-best defense, conceding only 43 goals. Mainz are back in European competition for the first time since 2016-17 after defying the preseason Bundesliga 2025 odds.

Jonathan Tah, Bayer Leverkusen

Jonathan Tah is back in the Bundesliga XI of the Season, as he continues to be Bayer Leverkusen’s defensive pillar. The 29-year-old center-back ranks amongst the best for tackles and pass success, and he is in the middle of his prime.

Unfortunately for Bayer Leverkusen, he will leave the team this summer after 10 years of service, with numerous teams vying for his signature.

Dayot Upamecano, Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich boast the league’s most miserly defense, with only 32 conceded goals, and Dayot Upamecano is a major reason why. The 26-year-old Frenchman has formed an excellent center-half partnership with Kim Min-Jae and has scored two league goals.

With Kim Min-Jae and Eric Dier rumored to leave Die Bayern this offseason, Bayern Munich will need Upamecano more than ever next term.

Alphonso Davies, Bayern Munich

Alphonso Davies is back at his best for Bayern Munich this season. He is one of the most athletic and versatile full-backs in the world, with his marauding runs forward and ability to cover incredible ground when tracking back.

After weeks of speculation, Davies signed a new extension with Die Bayern, keeping him in the club until 2030. The 24-year-old Canadian should continue to improve, as long as he stays healthy.

Willi Orban, RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig would’ve made it to Europe if Willi Orban had been fit during the team’s final few games. The 32-year-old skipper dealt with a thigh injury, and it’s no coincidence that Die Roten Bullen’s backline fell apart.

Besides having the reputation as one of the Bundesliga’s most savvy defenders, Orban also finished as the team’s fourth-leading scorer with five league goals this year.

Florian Wirtz, Bayer Leverkusen

With 10 league goals and 13 assists, Florian Wirtz has been arguably Bayer Leverkusen’s best player this season. The 21-year-old can do it all, and the world is his oyster. With the team seemingly headed for a rebuild, Die Werkself may be tempted to cash in on Wirtz this summer, with Liverpool reportedly interested, but for the right price.

Jamal Musiala, Bayern Munich

Jamal Musiala didn’t play in Bayern Munich’s final few games due to a hamstring injury he sustained last month. However, he belongs on this list because of the numerous Bundesliga 2025 highlights he produced before going down.

He was the team’s third-leading scorer with 12 league goals and two assists across 25 matches. The 22-year-old should continue to improve under Vincent Kompany.

Michael Olise, Bayern Munich

Michael Olise has been a revelation since moving to Bayern Munich last summer. He was pivotal in the team’s strong domestic showing, producing 12 league goals and 15 assists this year, an effortless fit to the Bavarians’ attack.

Harry Kane, Bayern Munich

Many of Olise’s assists went to Harry Kane, who won the Bundesliga Golden Boot with 26 league goals in his second full season with Bayern Munich. More importantly, the Englishman finally broke his long trophy drought by helping the Bavarians win the Meisterschale, and this might not be his last.

Hugo Ekitike, Eintracht Frankfurt

Hugo Ekitike deserves plaudits for stepping up to lead Eintracht Frankfurt’s frontline after Omar Marmoush left for Manchester City last January. The 22-year-old Frenchman registered 15 league goals and eight assists to help Die Adler qualify for the Champions League next term.

Serhou Guirassy, Borussia Dortmund

Serhou Guirassy may have changed clubs this season, but his scoring ability hasn’t changed at Borussia Dortmund. The Guinean international finished with 21 league goals this year, even bagging four goals in one game against Union Berlin last February (6-0).
