NBA: The Rolling Thunder are Gunning For Their Ninth Straight

The Thunder have picked up where they left off, even if they have missed some of their key players. The defending NBA champions are the only undefeated team left, and their 8-0 record is their best start in the franchise’s Oklahoma City era. Mark Daigneault’s men will continue their four-game West road trip with a game against the Blazers tomorrow.

Elsewhere, the Cavaliers, Pistons, Pacers, Celtics, Knicks, Grizzlies, Mavericks, Nuggets, Lakers, and Kings will host the Sixers, Jazz, Nets, Wizards, Timberwolves, Rockets, Pelicans, Heat, Spurs, and Warriors to round out tomorrow’s hectic 11-game schedule.

With so many games to play, basketball fans will surely get their usual dose of NBA 2025 highlights, and SBOTOP is here to preview the Top 3 matches from tomorrow’s slate.

Miami Heat @ Denver Nuggets

After dropping their NBA Cup opener against the Blazers last Friday, the Nuggets bounced back with a 130-124 win against the Kings yesterday in Russell Westbrook’s return at the Ball Arena.

As usual, Nikola Jokic continues to put up video game numbers. Against the Kings, the three-time league MVP had 34 points (game-high), seven rebounds, 14 assists, four steals, and two blocks on 14-for-22 shooting from the field. Christian Braun, Aaron Gordon, Jamal Murray, Bruce Brown, and Cameron Johnson added 21, 20, 15, 13, and 10 points, respectively. Denver have now won six straight against Sacramento dating to the 2023-24 campaign. Murray is the only notable player on their injury list, but he’s expected to play through his calf injury tomorrow.

The Heat have returned to winning ways with a 120-119 victory over the Clippers last Monday. Bam Adebayo led Miami with 25 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and two steals on 10-for-18 shooting from the field. Norman Powell, who returned to South California for the first time this season, had 21 points on 6-for-10 shooting. Andrew Wiggins, Kel’el Ware, and Simone Fontecchio added 17, 16, and 11 points.

Miami will continue to miss Tyler Herro, who had foot surgery last September. However, they’re coping well by playing the league’s fastest pace (106.43).

Betting tip – Denver Nuggets Asian Handicap -9.50 @ 2.00

San Antonio Spurs @ Los Angeles Lakers

The Spurs plan to get back on the winning track after they suffered their first loss against the Suns last Sunday. In the 130-118 defeat, Phoenix had seven players in double-digit points, while San Antonio oversaw some off nights from Victor Wembanyama and Devin Vassell.

Wembanyama recorded only nine points, nine rebounds, two assists, and four blocks on 4-for-14 shooting from the field, while Vassell only had four points on 2-for-9 shooting. Stephon Castle was the Spurs’ bright spot with 26 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals on 10-for-16 shooting.

Dylan Harper, who had 12 points off the bench on Sunday, is expected to miss multiple weeks due to a left calf strain. This is a huge blow to the Spurs’ depth, which is already missing De’Aaron Fox (hamstring), Jeremy Sochan (wrist), Kelly Olynyk (heel), and Luke Kornet (ankle).

On the other hand, it’s all smiles in Los Angeles. Besides the Dodgers winning the World Series, the Lakers are on a four-game winning streak.

Their 123-115 win over the Blazers last Monday was impressive since they were shorthanded without Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and Austin Reaves. Deandre Ayton and Rui Hachimura stepped up by combining for 57 points, while Nick Smith Jr. came out of nowhere and dropped 25 points, six assists, and five three-pointers.

According to the NBA 2025 odds, the scoring for tomorrow should be up because Doncic is no longer on the team’s injury report, while Reaves (groin) is a game-time decision for tomorrow’s contest. James (sciatica) isn’t expected to make his 2025-26 debut until around mid-November.

Betting tip – Over 228.50 @ 1.91

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Portland Trail Blazers

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to put the Thunder on his back. The reigning league MVP just dropped 30 points, four rebounds, 12 assists, and three blocks on 9-for-14 shooting to guide his team past the Clippers in the 126-107 victory.

The Thunder will continue to miss Jalen Williams (wrist), but that won’t matter if the likes of Chet Holmgren, Isaiah Hartenstein, Alex Caruso, Cason Wallace, Isaiah Joe, and Ajay Mitchell maintain their form.

As mentioned, the Blazers dropped their previous game against the Lakers. Deni Avdija, Shaedon Sharpe, and Jerami Grant combined for 74 points in the losing effort. Scoot Henderson (hamstring), Blake Wesley (foot), and Matisse Thybulle (thumb) all remain in the medical room.

Betting tip – Oklahoma City Thunder Asian Handicap -6.00 @ 2.06
